Take Aim at Fun with the Mauser M15
The Mauser M15 (GSG-15) is a German-made semi automatic rifle that has become popular in the shooting sports world. It is a semi-automatic rifle that is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and is based on the iconic SCAR, I believe. The GSG-15 is manufactured by German Sport Guns GmbH, a subsidiary of the German firearms manufacturer Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen.
Now you'll notice I keep calling it the GSG-15 instead of the Mauser M-15, they're the exact same gun, coming from the exact same factory. However, due to licensing and ATI's exclusive rights over the GSG name in the USA, they rebranded using the Mauser name instead.
The GSG-15 is a lightweight and reliable rifle that is perfect for target shooting and plinking. It has a 16.3-inch barrel and a collapsible stock, making it easy to transport and store. The rifle has a Picatinny rail on the top of the receiver for mounting optics and other accessories. The GSG-15 also features a threaded barrel for attaching a suppressor or other muzzle device.
The GSG-15 is a blowback-operated rifle that uses a simple blowback system to cycle the action. The rifle is fed from a 22-round detachable box magazine and has an ambidextrous safety selector. The rifle also features adjustable iron sights and a Picatinny rail on the forend for mounting accessories.
Obviously with any .22LR there's going to jams, and the occasional misfire. I chalk that up to ammunition, and the general low powered nature of the .22LR. I've never owned a .22LR that didn't have an issue once in a while. Even my very first .22 the BRNO (CZ now owns them), quality piece of equipment, I still have it to this day. Magazine fed, bolt action, rifle. I learned to shoot on it, and I'll pass it down to my kids. It still has misfires, and 100% chalk that up to Ammo with that thing, but I digress.
The GSG-15 is a great choice for those looking for an affordable and reliable rifle for target shooting and plinking. It is lightweight and easy to transport and store, and it is chambered in a popular and affordable caliber. I picked this up primarily for my kids, and photos, because it really does look bad ass. But I enjoy shooting just the same, she's a great plinker.
